When Mel and I first started Feliz (5 years ago now), we didn't have a great deal of experience screen printing. Mel had some experience from her course at RMIT and I had done an internship with Ink and Spindle which between us, gave us the foundations we needed (I will be forever grateful to the girls at Ink and Spindle for their kindness and generosity!).
We also had plenty of experience in product development and we were confident we knew enough to at least give it a shot. In saying all that, when we reflect on things now we realise what a big plunge we took... both in a business sense and on the screen printing table!
We started screen printing doonas and pillowcases in Mel's parents little shed in Resevoir. We both had babies and loved having something that we could work on together that was our own. It was exhilarating and so exciting to be learning a new creative skill!

And somehow we pulled a little range together, started a little website.... and here we are, still making doonas and pillowcases four years on for our beautiful, loyal customers.
Our processes and practices have evolved somewhat since then. From printing everything ourselves, to (very) slowly handing over some of the reigns to printers as things have grown. We still have little kids at home with us, so the growing demands of the business have meant printing everything ourselves has become impossible.
We continue to print all our own pillowcases and the odd doona design (which keeps us busy enough!). Being 'hands on' and connected with our product is still so important to us and we love testing new designs on our screen printing tables to refine and tinker until we are happy.
We are always open to creating custom designs for people. Feel free to send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if this is of interest to you! X
